How should we compare partners and request evidence?

Send comparable candidates the same brief and intended-use schedule. Ask each to define whether it represents the owner, distributes the owner's product, provides access controls, prepares data or advises on rights. A combination is acceptable if responsibilities and charges are explicit.

The AWS Data Exchange offer documentation distinguishes product offer terms and provider-defined usage rights. The owner should therefore ask who performs each task rather than assuming the platform supplies an entire licensing service.

Request:

  • Contracting entity, current ownership and relevant subcontractors.
  • Comparable mandate and use-case evidence, with disclosure permissions.
  • A clear statement of which buyer claims can be corroborated.
  • All fees, deductions, commissions, recoupment and payment dates.
  • Exclusivity scope, performance obligations, renewal and release conditions.
  • Sample handling, reporting example and accountable operational contacts.
  • Relevant conflicts, including referral or introduction payments.

Apply the partner evidence scorecard to the mandate. Its recommended formula is the weighted sum of ten ratings from 0–4, with weights totalling 100. Scores below 50 support further evidence gathering; 50–69.9 support a conditional shortlist; 70–84.9 may support a controlled pilot or negotiation; 85–100 support an approval review. These are unvalidated editorial bands, and the rights, recipient, commitment and evidence-integrity gates override them.
