Episode: How to Find the Right AI Buyers for Your Content — Media & the Machine, 24 July 2026. Host: Rob Kelly. Guest: AI content licensing consultant Dan Steiny. Evidence reviewed: the original episode page and its highlighted interview transcript.

Steiny describes matching content characteristics and use cases to potential buyers, instead of concentrating all effort on the largest model companies. He discusses an archive brief, direct versus intermediary routes, and the difference between training and retrieval opportunities. His examples and opportunity assessments are practitioner accounts, not a verified list of currently funded mandates.

Useful takeaway: frame the next commercial conversation around why a particular AI product needs a particular content cohort. Exercise: prepare a one-page brief containing domain, modality, dates, update cadence, permissions evidence, a proposed use and a question that would disqualify the buyer. Keep confidential samples out of the first approach.

Ask afterwards: “Which evidence would move a plausible match into a qualified opportunity?” A good answer should identify a buyer owner, use specification, evaluation process and commercial next step. A large list of company names alone does not complete that task.
