Episode: The Copyright War That Will Shape the Future of Music and AI | With Holly Rankin (aka Jack River) — In The Blink Of AI, 27 February 2026. Host: Georgie Healy. Guest: musician and cultural strategist Holly Rankin. Watch: publisher-linked YouTube edition, titled The Music Industry's Billion-Dollar AI Problem. Evidence reviewed: original episode page and available transcript.

The conversation presents a creator's perspective on permission, compensation and the labour behind creative works. Its Australian policy discussion and advocacy should not be read as a statement of US law. It is most relevant to owners whose commercial archive combines multiple contributors and types of rights.

Exercise: separate the commercial organisation's interests from contributor interests. List which questions must be answered about consent, permitted uses, attribution, payment, objection handling and future changes before an archive is offered.

Ask afterwards: “Who needs a clear explanation of the proposal before the company can responsibly proceed?” A completed contributor communication plan is more valuable than assuming all stakeholders mean the same thing by “AI licensing.”
